Copyright & takedowns
Last updated 24 October 2026
Writers own their work, and protecting it is the point of Heda. If someone posted your writing without permission, here's how to get it removed.
1.Report a copied work
If you have an account: open the work, choose Report → Plagiarism and tell us where the original is.
Otherwise, or for more formal requests, write to maddiewilson002@gmail.com with:
- your name and how we can contact you;
- the work that was copied (a link to the original, or a description if it's unpublished);
- the link to the copy on Heda;
- a statement that you own the rights (or act for the owner) and that, in good faith, the use isn't authorised;
- a statement that the information is accurate.
2.What we do
We review every request quickly. If it's clear, we remove or hide the copy and tell the person who posted it, including who asked (so they can reply). We also check new works automatically: when most of a work matches an earlier work by someone else, it's flagged for review.
3.If your work was removed by mistake
Write to maddiewilson002@gmail.com explaining why you have the right to post it (for example, it's your own work published elsewhere first, or you have a licence). We'll look at it again, and may restore it after checking with the person who complained.
4.Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly post other people's work are closed.
5.False claims
Knowingly false takedown requests are an abuse of this process and can lead to your account being closed, and may be unlawful.
