Terms of Service
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Hugo Rodríguez Carretero, who runs Heda ("Heda", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Heda you agree to them. We've tried to write them plainly; please read them, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.
1.What Heda is
Heda is a place to write, share and read: novels, short stories, screenplays, stage plays, poetry, essays and more. It includes a writing studio (Draftspace), a social feed, stories, direct messages and optional paid passes with extra features. We keep improving it, so features can change, be added or be removed.
2.Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Give true information when you sign up, keep your password safe, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
- One person, one account. Accounts are personal and can't be sold or transferred.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. This deletes your profile, works, drafts and messages, as described in the Privacy Policy.
3.Your work stays yours
You keep all rights to everything you write and upload. We don't claim ownership of your work, and we never sell it.
To run Heda we need your permission to store, copy, format and show your content in the ways you choose (for example: showing a published work to readers, displaying a preview in the feed, or making a backup). So you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to do exactly that, only to operate and improve the service. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already received in messages, and backups that are deleted on their normal schedule.
Drafts in Draftspace are private: only you and the co-writers you invite can see them. A work becomes visible to others only when you publish it, with the visibility you pick (everyone, followers or your close circle).
Only post work you have the right to post. If you share someone else's text (for example a quote or a fan work), you are responsible for respecting their rights.
4.AI: we read, we never write
The creators of Heda are against using AI to write. Heda will never write, rewrite or continue your work for you.
- The Analyzer (in some passes) only reads the text you choose and points things out: typos, contradictions, pacing, questions. It is run by an AI provider (currently Google Gemini) and can be wrong. Its notes are suggestions; every decision is yours.
- Mood tags for published works are suggested automatically from the text, so readers can find what they want. You can remove them.
- If you choose to, you can let us keep the passages the Analyzer read and your verdicts on its notes, to build Heda's own analyzer in the future. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time. See the Privacy Policy.
- Heda is for human writing. Publishing text generated by AI as if you wrote it goes against our Community Guidelines.
5.Rules of the community
You agree to follow our Community Guidelines. In short: no harassment or hate, no sexual content involving minors, no stolen work, no spam, nothing illegal, and content warnings on difficult topics.
You also agree not to break or overload Heda: no scraping, no bots or automated accounts, no attempts to get into other people's accounts or private data, and no getting around limits or security.
6.Reports and moderation
Anyone can report a work, comment, profile, story or message. We also run automatic checks for copy-pasted and repeated content. A person reviews reports. We may remove content or limit, suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the guidelines, or when the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you what happened and why, and you can reply to contest it.
7.Passes and payments
Heda is free to use. Paid passes (currently Premium and Ultra) add features and higher limits, described on the passes screen. Prices are shown before you pay.
Payments are handled by our reseller Paddle (Paddle.com), which acts as the merchant of record: Paddle sells the pass to you, handles payment, taxes and invoices, and its own buyer terms apply to the purchase. Passes renew automatically until you cancel; you can cancel at any time and keep the pass until the end of the period you paid for. How refunds work is explained in the Refund Policy.
If you live in the EU or UK you have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase. When a pass starts immediately at your request, you agree that it begins right away and you may lose that right once you've used it, as the law allows. This doesn't affect any other rights you have as a consumer.
We may give passes for free, for example to early testers. Free passes can end at any time; your work is never deleted when a pass ends, although some features (like extra length or co-writing) stop until you upgrade again.
8.Availability and backups
We work hard to keep Heda running and your work safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Please keep your own copies of important work: you can download any project as PDF, Word, other formats, or as a complete .heda file at any time.
9.Liability
Heda is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data, or for content posted by other users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
10.Ending this agreement
You can stop using Heda and delete your account whenever you want. We may close accounts for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, or if we have to stop running Heda; in that case we'll give you reasonable notice where possible so you can download your work.
11.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Heda changes. For important changes we'll tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Heda after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
12.Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Spain. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Before anything formal, please write to us — most problems are solved quickly by talking.
